See, I told you the change would be dramatic. Behold! I’ve switched from my ultra-colorful blog template to this awesome minimalistic template. In keeping with the spirit of minimalism, I decided not to reinvent the wheel; this template, Manifest, is the work of Jim Barraud’s genius.
I did have to make one serious tweak to the template: the body font. Mr. Barraud designed Manifest to use Constantia or Palatino at a pretty small font size. While this made the body text more visually appealing, it seriously hindered readability. If I want visitors to read my text, I need to compromise. So I went with Trebuchet or Trebuchet MS as a body font, which I believe best maintains the intended design while being far more readable. Like I said, it’s a compromise.
Also, there’s actually stuff in my portfolio now.
Update: Since this post, I’ve switched themes once again. I’m now using Felipe Lavín’s Satorii theme. My needs simply outgrew what Manifest was capable of, though I still think it’s one of the best themes I’ve seen.
Yes, I have a history of going through blogs like so much toilet paper. I realize this makes it difficult for anyone to actually know what I’m updating anymore and what has been abandoned. I also realize how easy it is for people to give up all together.
Sorry. I’ve done it again. But this time, I want to hold your hand through the transition. Take, and let us walk together.
